NOTICE OF RACE
LAKE COILA 2018 -19
1THE SERIES

The Batemans Bay Sailing Club Inc. will run a Series of races at Lake Coila over 14 days during spring/summer 2018-19. The racing days are scheduled in Attachment A.

On each day of racing, if conditions permit, two races will be held.
2RULES
2.1 The Series will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
2.2 The prescriptions of Yachting Australia and its Special Regulations, Part 2 For Off the Beach Boats will apply.
2.3. Rules will be changed 32 33 35 63.
3ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The Series are open to all off the beach dinghies and multi-hulls, which will comply with their relevant class measurement rules and with Yachting Australia Special Regulations Part 2. Entries may be accepted from participants who are not current members of BBSC or YA for their first three races, but who, if they are to continue in the Series must then become members of BBSC (or another sailing club) and YA.
3.2 Entries may be lodged at Kyla Park Recreation Hall, Tuross Head, from 1100 to 1130 hours on each race day in the Series. The race entry form will require all entrants to sign that they have liability insurance. The Race Committee reserves the right not to accept entries which it deems do not meet the eligibility criteria.
3.3 An eligible boat may enter:
(a) the Series, by completing the entry form and submitting it together with the required fee to the Race Officer prior to the first race in the Series; or
(b) a race in the Series, by completing the entry form and submitting it together with the required fee to the Race Officer prior to the race.
Later entries to the Series may be accepted at the discretion of the Race Committee.

4FEES
4.1 The entry fee for individual racing days is $15, up to a maximum of three scheduled racing days.

The entry fee for the Series will be $75.

These fees are additional to the cost of membership of BBSC (or other sailing club) and YA Registration. Single and family membership fees for BBSC are detailed on the BBSC website.
5SCHEDULE
5.1 Dates of racing are tabulated in Attachment A “Coila Lake Sailing Program 2018/2019”.
5.2 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is 1200 hours.
6SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
6.1 Sailing Instructions will be available from the Race Officer from 1100 to 1130 hours on each race day in the Series.
7VENUE
7.1 The Series will be conducted on Coila Lake from in front of the Kyla Park Recreation Hall, Tuross Head. The location of the racing areas, and details of the courses, are given in the Sailing Instructions.
8DIVISIONS AND SCORING
8.1 Boats will be allocated into one of two divisions:
(a) Division 1 – all multi-hulls;

Division 2 – all dinghies.
8.2 The scoring system for the Series is detailed in the Sailing Instructions.

9HANDICAP SYSTEM
9.1 Results for each Series will be calculated on two bases:
(a) using yardsticks for each boat, based on the yardsticks published by Yachting Victoria; and
(b) using a Performance Handicap System (PHS). The PHS to be used at Coila is detailed in the Sailing Instructions.
10PRIZES
10.1 After the Series, a modest prize may be given to:
(a) the first, second and third boat in each division of the Series, on Yardstick results;
(b) the first, second and third boat in each division of the Series, on Handicap (PHS) results.
11DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
11.1 Competitors participate in the Series entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The Club will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after a race in the Series.
12INSURANCE
12.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $5 million per event or the equivalent.

Races on the warm-up day, Sunday 23rd September, will be informal and will not count as part of the Coila Lake Series.
On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April 2019, Batemans Bay Sailing Club will run the Anzac Regatta for off-the-beach and trailable yachts, based at Corrigans Beach in Batemans Bay. This Regatta is a separate event from the Coila Lake Series and will have its own Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions.
