2011 Batemans Bay Regatta

The 2011 Batemans Bay Regatta will be held on April 9th and 10th.  Traditionally the Batemans Bay Regatta is held on the weekend closest to ANZAC Day. However, in 2011 ANZAC Day will be on Easter Monday. Holding the regatta over Easter would clash with NSW Championships in several classes so the regatta will instead be held two weekends earlier. NSW schools break up on April 8th, giving NSW based sailors the opportunity to have an extended family break in Batemans Bay.

MAST UP STORAGE

The recent sailing forum strongly endorsed a proposal that the club submit a proposal to Council to build a security fence around the perimeter of the clubhouse precinct (largely where the perimeter is now marked by fencing, posts and the beach access path) and install external security lighting, so as to allow the club to provide mast-up storage on a fee-paying basis.

There was an excellent fleet of 114 boats competing. These ranged from small single handed dinghies through to high tech skiffs, catamarans and trailerable yachts.

Batemans Bay Marine Park Race - SAILING REPORT

Last Saturday Batemans Bay Sailing Club conducted the Batemans Marine Park Race. There was no sponsorship from NPWS for this ecologically sound activity, but extensive use was made of the recently laid marine park markers as rounding bouys. Race Officer Peter Smith and his trusty crew aboard “Avior” got the fleet going from the start line off Casey’s beach.
