Sailing Report - Sternchaser

“Batemans Bay Sailing Club yachties did something a little different last Saturday with the Mariners Lodge Sternchaser race. In this race the smaller yachts are given a headstart based on previous performance. The idea is that the fleet comes together at the finish. If the handicapping is done accurately a close and exciting race ensues which is what happened last weekend.

Sailing Report - 2 Bays Classic

“Batemans Bay Sailing Club held the annual Bengelo Property Services Broulee Race last Saturday. It was a beautiful day to take in the scenic coastline between Batemans Bay and Broulee.

Sailing Report - 3 Bays Race

“Last Saturday Batemans Bay Sailing Club held the 3 Bays race, so called because the yachts traverse Batemans Bay, Beagle Bay and Broulee Bay. This year the course went from a start off Snapper Island to a mark off Durras, down the coast to a mark off North Broulee and back to a finish line at the marine park middle mark on Batemans Bay. This is a long course at around 30 nautical miles.

“Batemans Bay Sailing Club held its final sailing event of the year on Saturday with the running of the annual Durras Race. This course runs from a start line off Snapper Island to the Marine Park middle mark and hence to a mark off North Durras and return. This means all points of sail are experienced as well as the spectacular coastal scenery.

Bay Cup 4 - SAILING REPORT

Last weekend Batemans Bay Sailing Club conducted the fourth race of its popular Bay Cup series. Eight yachts ventured forth. Race officer Robin Foote, assisted by Michael and George from “The Shed” had a difficult task in setting a course as the breeze was shifting dramatically. A southerly course was set although the breeze swung south east at the start.
