CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTIONS - Effective 13th October 2011

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

 

Change No 1 of
2011: Common Instruction 1 (Rules)

Effective 13
October 2011

 

Delete the existing Common Instruction 1
(at page 21 of the Handbook) and insert in lieu thereof a new Common
Instruction 1 as follows:

1.   COMMON INSTRUCTION: RULES

 

Rules

 

1.1 A
race will be governed by the rules as defined in the Rules, by Yachting
Australia’s Prescriptions to the Rules and its Special Regulations (as amended
by the Notice of Race or by the instructions) and by the Notice of Race and the
instructions.

 

Rule changes

 

4.2 Rule
28 is changed to so that after the start of a race (other than a Division 1
Sprint Race), a boat shall not, unless it is finishing, pass through the finish
line while the Race Officer’s boat is in position at the finish line and flying
a blue on station flag.  A boat
failing to this clause shall be scored DSQ.

 

4.3 Rule 41 is
changed so that a communication between the Race Officer and a boat before or
during a race in relation to such matters as a starting time, a course, a
general or individual recall, the shortening of the course or abandoning the
race does not constitute outside help.

 

4.4 Rules
50.2 and 50.3 are changed to allow a fixed or retractable spinnaker pole not
attached to the foremast for the purpose of setting an asymmetrical spinnaker.

2011: River Wranglers

Effective 13
October 2011

 

Delete the existing River Wranglers
Instructions 21 and 22 (at page 60 of the Handbook) and insert in lieu thereof
new River Wranglers Instructions 21, 22 and 22A as follows:

 

21.   RIVER WRANGLERS SHORTENING THE
COURSE

 

21.1 When a race is started subject to rule 26, rule 32 shall apply.

 

21.2 When a race is not started subject to rule 26, if no boat has
finished the race by 1930hrs, the course shall be shortened to finish at the
last mark passed by the leading boat as at 1930hrs.

22.   RIVER WRANGLERS TIME LIMITS

 

22.1 The time limit for a race in a River Wranglers Series is 1930hrs.

 

22.2 A boat that fails to finish the course, or the course as shortened,
by 1930hrs shall be scored DNF.

 

21.   RIVER WRANGLERS SHORTENING THE
COURSE

 

21.1 When
a race is started in accordance with rule 26, rule 32 shall apply subject to
River Wranglers Instruction 21.2.

 

21.2 If
50% or more of the boats participating in a race fail to finish the course, or
the course as shortened, within the time specified in River Wranglers
Instruction 22.2 (1930hrs), the course shall be shortened to finish at the mark
passed by 50% or more of the fleet immediately prior to 1930hrs and a boat's
result shall be determined by reference to the sequence it passed that mark.

 

22.   RIVER WRANGLERS TIME LIMITS

 

22.1 The
time limit for a race in a River Wranglers Series is 1930hrs.

 

22.2 A
boat that fails to finish the course, or the course as shortened, by 1930hrs shall
be scored DNF.

 

22A.   RIVER
WRANGLERS REPORTING OF RESULTS

 

When a race is not started subject to rule
26, a boat shall within 24 hours of her finishing the race ensure that the
Handicapper is informed of her result, preferably by way of an e-mail or text
message or by way of a written declaration handed to a member of the Committee.
